Regional Winner of the Nationwide Community & Heritage Awards 2008This Web site allows you to share the wealth of information the Award Winning Arrochar, Tarbet & Ardlui Heritage Group, Scotland have  collected about their area. The Heritage Map stretches from The Top of the Abyssinia, Rest and Be Thankful, Glencroe, Coilessan, Ardgartan, The Torpedo Range, Succoth, Feorlin, Corrigrogan & Loch Sloy, Glenloin, The Head Of Loch Long, Arrochar Village, Tighness, Ardmay, Morelaggan, Finnart, The Back Road, Tyvechtican, Tarbet Glen, The Toll, The Station, Ballyhennan, Tighloan, Tarbet Village, the Still Brae, the Cnoc, Inverhulan, Firkin, Inveruglas and along the Loch Lomondside to Ardlui. To capture the feeling of this we have created a Heritage Map along with Galleries of Photographs providing a ‘snapshot in time’ of the local area along with information on its history and legacy of its past. It shows the lands of the Clan MacFarlane, the site of their battle with the Viking invaders at Tarbet and the Drove Routes they plundered.

We have the Statistical Accounts of Arrochar & Tarbet 1790- 1955 and Census records from 1841-1901.  We have tried to capture The way the villages grew up from the early 1800’s including Transport through the ages, and the coming of the West Highland Railway and Barony Arrochar Primary School from it’s origin in 1767 till the present day, the Arrochar Football Club, the Cubs, the Youth Club, The Village Hall and all the Clubs and Associations it supported and the role the villagers played during the War Years in their support of the Home Front. Not forgetting the Doctors, Folk Lore, the Characters, the Family Connections and Peoples memories and the cemetery. We even have videos. The Group would welcome any additional information, photographs or memorabilia that anyone can add - please Contact Us or call 01301 702533 for further information.
